Installing Netbeans With C++ on Windows

Install the Java SDK
Install Netbeans
  • Download and install a version of NetBeans that includes C++ support: Netbeans downloads
    • Go to https://netbeans.org/
    • You need to download and install the version that includes C++ support.
    • Go to this Link and pick one of the two options below:
      1. Netbeans with C++ only (142 MB)
      2. Netbeans with C++ plus Java and more (263 MB) (Get this if you also what Java support)
Install C++ GNU compilers
  • Complete official instructions here: NetBeans for C++ install
    1. Go to http://cygwin.com/
    2. Click on "Install Cygwin"
    3. Click on setup-x86_64.exe to get the 64 bit version
    4. Download and run the installer
    5. Click on the "Devel" to open
    6. Click on the "Skip" for each of the following to change itto install:
      • gcc-core
      • gcc-c++
      • gdb
      • make
    7. Click on next to install the compiler.
Try it out
  1. Open Netbeans
  2. File/New Project
  3. Pick "C/C++" on left, "C/C++" Application on right, hit next
  4. Give name "hello"
  5. Select a project location(your H drive is best), hit finish
  6. Open source folder, main.cpp
  7. Paste in and run:

Hello world

#include <iostream>
using namespace std;
int main()
{
  cout << "Hello, world." << endl;
}
