Project 3 Proposal (Team)

Moodle Link

Metaphoric Data Visualization

Goal

The goal here is to come up (as a team) with a proposal to create a compelling metaphoric visualization of some dataset. You will need to find a dataset, and come up with a visualization design that uses one or more of the following visual concepts to create an emotional connection between the viewer and data. The visualization may include dynamic elements (e.g. ongoing movement) or interacts (user makes selections or somehow interacts with the data) to express some desired emotional/intellectual response. The visualization may also be static, but in this case it should still utilize concepts such as spacial variations, reduction, elimination of subject matter, or use of time based elements.

Your team will also need to use github for this project.

Method

You will need to identify/design the following for this proposal

  1. Find a dataset (in any format, XML, CSV, etc) with some compelling aspect.
  2. Describe the cognitive/emotional goal of this visualization in terms of what concepts, beliefs, and/or attitudes you wish to challenge the viewer to engage. You should articulate a specific goal or set of goals that you wish to impact the viewer with.
  3. Describe some ideas about the visual approach you plan to take for this work. This does not to be absolute or complete, and may even include a set of several ideas your team plans to explore in order to achieve the desired goals. This may include mockups, or drawings. Make sure to explain whether you believe your work will be interactive or dynamic, and in what ways.
Each person in the team should tuen in a copy of tour proposal on Moodle
